Child & Working Tax Credit Child Tax Credit is a means-tested allowance for parents and carers of children or young people who are still in full-time education. Also there are some exceptions if you don’t work and care for children. It can sometimes help towards childcare costs but rules apply. Working Tax Credit together with the child care element is paid directly to the carer/parent.
