Local libraries Access Card If your child has learning difficulties/an ASD they can have an Access Card which entitles them to 2 free audiovisual items free of charge (music CDs, videos, DVDs, CD-ROMs and video games) and all their audiobooks on tapes or CD are free. Click here for more details. |
Cinema Exhibitors' Association Card This national card entitles the holder to one free ticket for a person accompanying them to the cinema. To be able to apply, the cardholder must satisfy one of the following criteria: - Be in receipt of disability living allowance - Be a registered blind person The card costs £5 and is valid for 3 years. Radar Keys for disabled toilets The National Key Scheme offers independent access by disabled people to around 7,000 locked public toilets around the country. £3.50 including postage for those applying on behalf of a disabled person. Go to the Radar site for more details. |
Dentists! Here is a list of all dentists in the Hampshire Primary Care Trust. If your child has special needs and cannot be seen by an ordinary dentist, ring the Dental Enquiries number on 0845 0508345 and ask for details of your nearest Community Dental Team that deals with special needs children. Your child will then need a referal from their health visitor, GP or current dentist. |
Free Nappies/Incontinence Pads If your child is 4 years old and has special needs, he/she is entitled to free nappies (not the best ones in the world, but they do the job!) This can be extended to cover protective pants, liners, disposable draw-sheets etc. To find out more contact your health visitor or community nurse. |
